Michael Litzau

Michael graduated from Columbus College of Art and Design in 2004 with a bachelors in Fine Arts. In 2006 he obtained his Master of Fine Arts degree in a focus in printmaking from The Ohio State University. He currently teaches in the foundations department of the Columbus College of Art and Design. He also holds printmaking classes through his studio at http://akirapress.org and in outreach programs with local school districts such as Upper Arlington. He is currently a member of the Couchfire Collective which helps organize and facilitate local art events in Columbus, Ohio. Michael also sells prints of his artwork on Etsy. Michael's artwork is based in his interest printmaking, history, and image appropriation. He takes historical images and manipulates them by repeating them multiple times or deletes them from the artwork entirely. He questions images are viewed and how putting them in a new context changes their meaning both past and present.
