Proposal Title
Jamboraid (working title)

Please describe your proposal?
What I want to do is put on a concert that is completely for charity. What we are going to do is invite many local bands to come and play our show. The show will be free, but donations will be encouraged. We will sell Jamboraid t-shirts at the event. The bands will play on a covered stage(so we can go rain or shine). Where the real twist/idea comes in is that in front of the stage will be a dancefloor. The dancefloor will be composed of many separate rectangular pieces of wood(each around 2' x 3'). The floor will be surrounded by containers filled with paint. While the bands play people will take off their shoes and dance with the paint on their feet thus creating marks on the floor. There will be a dance floor for every two bands( I'm thinking there will be 8 bands so 4 floors). After the show we will take the dancefloors and seperate them into the original rectangles. These wood panels will then be distributed to local artists who will turn them into finished paintings/drawings. The paintings and drawings will be put on display in an art gallery and sold. All of the money made from the t-shirts and paintings will go to charity. I was thinking the concert could be held in goodale park or on OSU campus. Any art gallery would be suitable for the works, but I was thinking it would be good press for some of the newer galleries if they wanted to display the works.

What is the timeframe for the proposal and its completion?
I was thinking jamboraid could take place spring quarter and the artists would be given a month to complete their work after the show. Then the gallery show would take place soon after that.

How will you use the award money to complete the proposal?
How the money will be spent sort of depends on what resources are donated/lent to us. Items we need include, sound equipment, rain protection for the equipment (tent),t-shirts, paint, wood (for dancefloors). We will try and get some kind of discount/donation from lowes or homedepot for the wood. Some of the artists may have sound equipment we could use or we might be able to get it from OSU. It just depends how all of that unfolds but the more donations we get the more of the money will be used to buy t-shirts to sell and extra paint and wood.

What makes this the proposal to vote for?
This project will help a lot of people and enrich Columbus' art community. Jamboraid will get a lot of peoples attention and not only help the charity that we donate to, but whatever gallery ends up showing the finished works will get a lot of recognition. Many local artists will also get a chance to shine. Many people will help me work on this project and get real experience in all different fields(marketing(promotion of the event), Photography(for documentation of the event and articles etc.), videography(video record of the event, for online exposure), Journalism(newspaper articles)) When this idea popped into my head I knew it had to be done. It is a beautiful thing when a lot of people can come together to help others and have fun while doing it.
