Couchfire Collective is proud to present Art School Throwdown, an event and exhibition designed to pit the best artists in each college art program against each other in a head to head competition. The show is produced and run by current students with the assistance of the members of the Couchfire Collective.
Works will be judged in several categories including drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, video, printmaking, design, and new media. Judges will be a selection of Columbus area artists and graduates of art institutions. During the event students will be competing in other challenges such as "Art History Jeopardy", "Canvas Stretching Races", and "Team Chair Building Competition".
Students are asked to submit online at www.thecouchfire.org/artschoolthrowdown.html. The cost to submit up to three pieces is five dollars. Title and category for each piece is required for the submission process, no image uploading is needed. Drop off for the event will be held on Wednesday, April the 14th, at Junctionview Studios from 12pm to 8pm. Artwork must be ready to hang.
The event happens in two parts.
The main event will be held on April the 17th at Junctionview Studios in Grandview from 6pm to 11pm. During the event the displayed work will be judged while the participating art students compete in art related games. The general public is welcomed to come and view the games and the artwork.
The grand prize event will be held at the Ohio Art League gallery in the Gateway, April the 24th from 6pm to 11pm. The winners of the main event judging will be on display and the general public will be invited to vote on a peoples choice award.
Pick up will be held April the 25th from 12pm to 5pm at Junctionview Studios.
